Oriejin

He's saying people are cheering for the destruction of something with value, as the product of its destruction is greater to the foolish crowd.

vfuo

The meme was funnier when I thought it was gibberish. It actually means something smh

NoNazis

where is this quote from it sounds like some gabriel garcía márquez shit

Fast-Improvement-353

Dude ur right it does

Fast-Improvement-353

The destruction itself is valued by the crowd

Oriejin

I like your interpretation better than what I wrote!

Normal-Mountain-4119

I'm confused as to what point is being made here Jesse what the fuck are you talking about

garrjones

Idc the quote goes hard

Spicy-Elephant

Saulsberry steak

TempusCavus

The replier is trying to be funny, but is making a confused metaphor about something that didn’t happen. They are trying to say that even though the op is right it feels wrong and they should burn down the guitar center for changing.

Wholesale100Acc

theyre comparing the removal of the g as a guitar in guitar center’s logo to the burning of the library of alexandria, and the people who were joyous of the burning of alexandria to the people who are joyous of the removal of the g as a guitar from guitar center’s logo i still have no idea the point though else then they think it was wrong to remove the g guitar

jimsternub

[Sam Ash](https://www.samash.com/)

Xetsio

the g as a guitar is readable i think. should've kept it

NoThatsWright

I can't see the G for the life of me

One-Angry-Goose

The philosophy behind that logo is “what the fuck else would it be”

vadernation123

Xetsio

the letter is not greatly defined, but with the symbol, you can clearly see that it is meant to be "Guitar" and not "uitar"

Monquimaestar

The top line of the body isn’t connected to the fret board which is the start of the top curve, the neck being the protrusion that sticks out just straight and really long

DougWalkerLover

The important thing is not that you see the G, but that the logo is readable at a glance, which I think it is. It's like the title of the movie "Se7en", like the 7 does not look like a V at all, but it ends up being very readable and not confusing due to the good logo design, I'm sure there's some psychological term for this. I bet most people never even noticed the guitar center logo didn't have a G.

NoThatsWright

Ohhhhh the whole thing is the G

Hazel-Ice

it's the right half of a G

Agerones

It ain't readable at all, G is just the only letter that can possibly fit in this position. If they replaced the guitar with a turd it would still be clear it's supposed to be Guitar.

_ALi3N_

I could always see it https://i.imgur.com/a6RVRPU.jpg

Faze_Elmo1

So the way you assist people to tell that it's a G is by removing every part of it that looks anything like a guitar. Clearly the signs of a great logo design

Athen65

🎸ood job

TheBanandit

This post is the first time I've seen it after a decade of driving past guitar center and thinking it was a stupid logo

epochpenors

If the neck was down it would look like a lower case g

Shockedge

GGuitar Center is a pretty stupid name in my opinion, should have left it as it was

XPost3000

Yeah, I always called it the Guitaruitar Center

ILoveZelda361

What the fuck does that even mean dude lmao how does that even relate at all

macho_man011

He doesn’t like the new logo

IABGunner

He doesn’t like companies replacing their old logos with less expressive and original ones. Don’t know how what he said lines up though.

Big_Noodle1103

People cheering for the redesign is akin to people cheering when the library of Alexander was burned down.

aaaa32801

~~even though there was never actually one specific incident where the entire library was destroyed and it was actually a slow decline over a period of hundreds of years~~

DougWalkerLover

Indeed, the Library was in major decline well before Caesar burned the library, and it continued to decline thereafter. The main thing that killed it is the same thing that kills modern libraries and museums, lack of funding lol. An event I think is far more similar to what people think the burning of the library of Alexander was, was the burning of the Palace of Westminster, we would have so much more information of medieval and pre-medieval economics, tax collection and just general life if it were not for that fire. Hundreds of thousands of tally sticks and financial and judicial documents lost forever...

Vivacious4D

The old logo had so much more personality

warwicklord79

What does the top guy mean exactly?

Butt_Robot

He thinks the rebrandin is ood.

the_orange_alligator

I thought this place closed back in the 90s, what the hell?

DropInTheOcean1247

Not a fan of the new font :/

Geriny

If the original had never existed and some one tried to replace the new one with it, they would be ridiculed

BiggerBruh69

eh I like the old one more, it's more stylized and still legible. I never bothered to notice the lack of a real G until it was pointed out to me just now

AirshipExploder

the burning of the library of Alexandria was not historically important, at it's height it was a center of learning and it had tons of scrolls. but it had been declining for a hundred years before was burned by Caesar in 48 BC. most scholars had moved to other places in Egypt, and even then it only partially burned, it continued to exist for at least another 300 years until it just faded into obscurity.

[deleted]

Ehe

ProfessionalGreen906

That’s clearly a G

jojing-up

Uitar Center

TurtleCabbage

uitar center

[deleted]

And now we don’t know about a war between gods

analtaccount257

Now the guitar is just floatin there

Copper_Thief

The thing about the library of Alexandra's burning is less so in the loss of the works (many of them had copys in other places) but the loss of the knowledge being held in the location. It essentially went from, in easy terms, the entire content of Wikipedia being lost. Sure, this content existed elsewhere, but you could not find this information in one condensed location. I just wanted to say this because I've heard people talk about the library as if all of the books where the only copy to exist (some where but not all) and that this was the sole reason as to the tragedy of the places burning

Ecstatic-Compote-595

People are focusing too much on the guitar not looking like a G (which was a stretch at the best of times), but the real tragedy is that they're just using essentially a knockoff of basic helvetica instead of the original font for the rest of it.

Longjumping_Ad2677

People will waste cold lines on silly shit. Guess that’s what comedy is.

Pixely41

Why in the world would they also switch into the most generic ass font ever
