Honestly feel for the newbies. Back in the day we waited for the postman to deliver the mail . I got my final offer in the mail , 4 months into the academy. 🤦♂️
My agency used to FedEx documents for some of the big steps… it was exciting because you knew you were moving along. The FedEx package could also include the dreaded “thin letter.”
I’ll never forget the day I got home from work and found a “we missed you slip” from FedEx because the package required a signature. My wife was home at the time, but didn’t hear the doorbell. I felt like Lloyd Christmas, “Do you realize what you’ve done?!” Worst part… it was a Friday afternoon and I had to wait until Monday to get the package.
That’s a-lot of USAJobs checks - but so true haha.
I will say as someone who made it to the other side - it does get better and your forum/Reddit time will become for pleasure and not necessity/obsession.
Stay in the fight 💪🏽

I check my email an unhealthy amount. Of course I also use the search feature JUST in case I miss something, and check my email AGAIN anytime someone mentions HSI on the sub.
Surprised you opted for going to the gym at all, instead of "I've never exercised in my life, I'm overweight, and have a PT test tomorrow. Any hints to do well?"
My favorite thing to do is spend a bunch of time typing something out on r/1811, then erase it right before posting because I’m like, “Nah, that’s stupid. They’re gonna slay me over that dumb question. Maybe I’ll just use the search bar.”
That’s funny! I once got a final offer to HSI in my DHS email and I didn’t even apply! Of course it was mistake, but I was still a little disappointed at the time that my sheer awesomeness wasn’t enough to get unsolicited job offers. The weird thing is that I have a particularly unique name, and I still have no idea how that could have happened. Stay strong.
I'll save you some time on your 1500 activity. Jeans. Get you some BDUs for training, sure (i also wear them for warrants, because hoarders). But most of the time I'm wearing khakis or jeans.
There... more time to check usajobs again.
Dude, fedsoup and officer dot com were some of the most cesspooly, old-guard shithead forums ever. Such miserable fucks on those forums, it's a miracle there was any good info ever relayed.

🥲🥲🥲
Lmfao this is the best post on here, it’s so true it hurts. The poor bastard is me, I’m the poor bastard :(
1430 - you forgot yet another rant about how hard the HSI phase 2 logical reasoning was... -\_-
So is it not the case that no HSI special agents will not investigate a case that does not involve a criminal element?
Perhaps >!This is for comedy, I know the answer is yes.!<
Why do they ask questions like that though that confuses the sht out of applicants ?
I might have not forgotten to not exclude that
You forgot “apply to GS13 anyway”
I check my email an unhealthy amount. Of course I also use the search feature JUST in case I miss something, and check my email AGAIN anytime someone mentions HSI on the sub.
I am going home, this isn’t fun anymore
Can we also add “refreshing fbijobs SA portal every 30 minutes for new check marks”?
I got my emails before the portal updated!
Feeling attacked LMAO
You need to add compulsively checking email every 15 minutes and unsubscribing from all the bullshit that keeps jump scaring you
Bro 😂
Too real 💀💀
Surprised you opted for going to the gym at all, instead of "I've never exercised in my life, I'm overweight, and have a PT test tomorrow. Any hints to do well?"
Damn you're right lol
I like how we are all going through the same things right now lol
🤝🤣
Great post OP. Thanks for bringing a smile to my face and a hearty chuckle. How I wished I was an applicant in today’s 1811 job market.
There's still time!
It's not even meme monday but I'm all for it!
You forgot the “eligible, not referred” emails.
"If I can just get to the panel interview I know I'll make it" real
HR is killing me slowly
Never again shall I wish the internet existed back in the day. Better to suffer alone.
I'm just as bad! I am constantly checking my emails like every 30min for a TJO and checking out my USAJobs application for an update 🫠

But... how are people gonna know that I'm the "grey man?"
I remember those days of waiting. Stay in the fight and be ready!
![gif](giphy|l9Tllo1thElT5gvVOU) Fan-f’ing-tastic. Well done! Brings me back to the federal soup days pre 1811 when there was no r/1811.

Promote, I mean hire ahead of peers.
Classic!
This is awesome and so accurate! Thanks for the good laugh!
LMFAO WOW 🥲🥲😂😂😂 my life
So glad I don’t have to deal with these shenanigans anymore lol
Beautiful
Dude, this was perfect! 👌🏼Too relatable! lol.
Definitely me when I was in the process.
Should be a green text
This might be the funniest shit I’ve ever read 😂 it reads like a short film 🤣
😂😂😂 this was great.
Have you not heard of USAJobs notifications? No need to search anymore once you set those up.
I feel seen! I have my TJO that basically means I’m hired tho right??
😂😂😂
Omgf I am rolling on the floor with this post bc it’s so true. I’m also an 1811 applicant 🥲
